How to code new car battery in Audi? VCDS.

When you are changing your old battery for exactly the same you had before in most cases you don’t need to recode it however in most cars battery regulation module might be a bit confused about new battery, why?

When you replacing your battery to a new one, it might have different capacity of pawer, in most cars battery regulation module does not measure current battery level but only taking a measure of consumed power and how much power it deliver (charge) to battery.

In my opinion when you are changing battery, you always should recode it.

Also remember, when you are placing a replacement battery, make sure it’s charged in 100% before you’ll put in a car and start coding.

How to code new battery in Audi?

To do this, you’ll need VCDS, VAO code from new battery and serial number. VAO code you’ll have only when you’ll buy battery from audi garage – we have got list with common codes you can use in VCDS.

In cars with battery regulation module, you need to go to the:

[61 – Battery Regulation] in some cars it might be also in [09 – Cent. Elect.] or in Gateway – so if you don’t have Battery regulation try to find them in other modules.

The battery serial number in that YouTube video is completely wrong (000915105A – this is the part number, not the serial number).
Also the list of Part Numbers at the bottom of the page (for battery sizes 51h to 115Ah), are all Part Numbers only. These are NOT serial numbers (as you have highlighted in blue).
Look at the BEM code photo you have for the Varta battery: 000915105DL VA0310314E04G
Breaking this down:
Battery Part Number: 000915105DL
Battery Vendor Code: VA0
Battery Serial Number: 310314E04G
The battery part number tells the size and type of battery (there are other lists online, as well as yours).
The battery vendor code tells who manufactured the battery (there are lists online for different vendors, and in VCDS).
The battery serial number is unique to the battery, and incorporates the date, as well as other unique identifiers.
Breaking down the serial number (310314E04G):
Character 1: 3 (I am not sure what this is, I am still trying to figure this out)
Character 2: 1 (this is part of the year: 1 = 2011 or 2021)
Characters 3 & 4: 03 (this is the month: 03 = March)
Characters 5 & 6: 14 (this is the day: 14 = 14th day of month)
Character 7: E (this is the alphanumeric value of the day: E = 14) (ranges from 1=01 to V=31)
Characters 8, 9, 10: 04G (I am not sure what this is, I am still trying to figure this out)
Hopefully this helps someone out.
