This might happen to everyone, you might don’t know what system you have..
Audi has released quite a lot of different systems which might look very similar to each other.
The best way to check what type of system you have is getting current firmware version.
What is current software version?
Current software version is your MMI software which you have now installed in your car. Mostly can be checked in Red Engineering Menu, but in some cars might need access different menu.
I will not repeat here how to check firmware version, as we have already created full article about it, just click here to get there.
How to choose correct update?
So now that you know what MMI system you have, you can go to the Store, select your car, select your area, and look for numbers that are similar to the ones you already have. That is, if you have HN+_EU_AU3G_P0029, you must look at HN+_EU_AU3G, which describes your MMI system, and select the same system starting with HN+_EU_AU3G (in our example!).
If you have a Mib2 system, for example, in an Audi A6/A7, it will begin with: MHI2_ER_AU57x OR MHI2_ER_AUG11; in this case, only AUG11 can be replaced with AU57x.
With an Audi A6 with HN+R_EU_AU3G, you cannot install MHI2_ER_AU57x because there are entirely distinct systems.
Please be aware that from AUG11 to AU57x, only the Audi A6 and A7 can be replaced.
The Audi A4 offers more options, but the rules remain the same.
We do have MHI2, MHS2, Hnav EU, HN+ EU, and Bnav EU.
Hence, you can only install firmware that begins with MHI2_ER_AUG22 if you have MHI2_ER_AUG22.
Every one of our products has a compatibility list, however in the same year, a few different MMIs could be installed. It is crucial to check the software version you have before placing an order.
The best approach is to check the Red Engineering Menu (any MMI has access to it; no scripts or VCDs are required to enable it). I know it can be challenging to get in there at times, but you must persist.
Is there a tool that can inform me of the most recent updates?
YES. We have a unique tool that will show you all we have if you merely insert the full firmware version. To check our tool, click here. You must provide the complete version number of your current firmware, such as HN+R_EU_AU3G_P1234, MHI2_ER_AUG11_P1234, or MHS2_US_AU_P1234.
What ER/US/NAR means in software?
This is the region.
ER:
- Europe
- Australia / New Zealand
- Middle East
- Singapore
- South Africa
- Rest of the World
US/NAR:
- USA
- Canada
- Mexico
What about the maps?
Similar to software, you must determine the type of MMI you have before selecting the appropriate mappings. You need MMI 3G Plus maps, for instance, if your system is HN+ or HN+R (which stands for MMI 3G Plus), MMI 3G High maps if your system is Hnav_, MMI 3G Basic maps if your system is Bnav, MHI2/MHI2q if your system is MHS2, and MMI 3G Plus maps if your system is HN+ or HN+R etc..
